Admissions



Master of Geopolitics

Do not hesitate to send an application for admission even if you haven’t received your academic transcript yet.

The first year is the same for both of the two-year master’s programs.

Two programs are available in the second year:

  • A research program entitled: “Geopolitics: Territories and Power Relations,” which includes three possible specializations:
    • The Americas
    • Russia and Post-Soviet Areas
    • Geopolitical Risk Management and Defense
  • A professionalization program entitled “Local Geopolitics and Territorial Governance (Development Projects and Consultation)” learn more

Admissions procedure

  • Application forms will be available at the following link in May 2017: https://appscol.univ-paris8.fr/infoDevu/
  • For the first period of admissions, applications must be sent between May and June 10, 2017 (attested on the date of the postmark).
  • For the second period of admissions, applications must be sent by September 2 (attested on the date of the postmark).

Important: applications sent by e-mail will not be accepted!

  • If your application is accepted, you will be called for an interview with those who are in charge of the program. Interviews will take place from June 27 to July 1, 2017 for the first period of admissions, and from September 14-16, 2017 for the second period.

  • If you are a foreign student from a country outside of the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, a graduate of a foreign university, or a resident in one of the following countries using the CEF Procedure: Algeria, Argentina, Benin, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Columbia, Congo Brazzaville, South Korea, Côte d’Ivoire, United States, Gabon, Guinea, Mauritius, India, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mexico, Russia, Senegal, Syria, Taiwan, Tunisia, Turkey, Vietnam – you must imperatively follow the online pre-enrolment procedure on the CampusFrance website of the CEF Procedure country in which you reside: http://www.nomdupays.campusfrance.org (for example, if you are a resident of Morocco, you must go to the website http://www.maroc.campusfrance.org). Your application will be processed by the CEF of your country of residence, which will call you for an interview for you to explain your academic project. Your application will then be transmitted electronically between the CEF and the schools you requested. You will be provided with an account on the CEF website so that you can follow up on your applications. For more information, please go to the website http://www.campusfrance.org.

PhD in Geopolitics:

To apply for the PhD program, you must send the following documents to carine.moin@univ-paris8.fr by September 30, 2017:

  • A resume
  • A one-page cover letter explaining your motivation
  • A ten-page research project (research topics, including a working biography and outline)
  • A copy of your master’s degree or a certificate of completion, along with your academic transcript

The honorable mention “bien” is one of the conditions for admission.

If your application is accepted, you will be called for an interview with those who are in charge of the program, after which your application will be definitively accepted or declined.
